Another stadium

From http://bvetsfootballgroup.blogspot.com/

Good morning from Perth, WA. Jack and Gary have already provided photos of Perth Arena, Perth Oval and Subiaco Oval, but I managed to get one more for our collection - Perth Racing at Belmont Park - not to be confused with the more famous New York stadium with the same name:

This is just the second racecourse in our collection, but the 10th stadium from Oz, taking us up to 89 in all - the ton is in sight!

Colin Kilgour 64!

From http://bvetsfootballgroup.blogspot.com/

Greetings from Adelaide, where it's already Friday which happens to be CK's 64th birthday. Sgt Pepper, side 2, track 2 springs to mind - sing along now.

Looks like Friday night at the Douglas is going to be a CK-free zone:

Here's a recent one of Colin at St James' Park/Sports Direct stadium:

Looking rather serious here, CK - hope your day goes well - have a good one!

Sharpy's drams

From http://bvetsfootballgroup.blogspot.com/

It wouldn't be Friday night if there wasn't a team photo, complete with drams, celebrating somebody's birthday somewhere - we're not fussy whose birthday, but this time it was legitimate - it was a slightly belated celebration of Ian's 57th in the Douglas:

Sharpy's days of yore

From http://bvetsfootballgroup.blogspot.com/

We all know Ian is far too modest to boast, but the following two clips from a very old P & J magically appeared in my photo library and so I thought I'd share them with you. The report is from an Aberdeenshire Cup Final when Fraserburgh beat Deveronvale 5-2. The records show that Fraserburgh won it in the 1975-76 season, so I assume this was the year the report was from:

The photo has obviously been taken from a phone camera so the quality is poor, but, if you click on the image above, you can enlarge it and read all about what Ian has regularly described as his wonder goal. The relevant sentence reads "Bowie's low drive was cleared by Scott but only in to the path of SHARP who first-timed a grounder into an empty net" . The P & J was perhaps a little less effusive than Ian's description? The goal put the Broch two up but Deveronvale got back level again before a late burst of 3 goals saw Fraserburgh win comfortably in the end. The report also mentions crowd trouble during the match - "Police and officials rushed into the grandstand after an outbreak of fighting and for a while there was as much action off the pitch as on it".

The next photo is of the victorious team. A prize to the winner of the spot-Sharpy competition:

Ian would have been a callow youth of 21 then.
