It had promised to be a lively evening at the golf club, with rare visits from a few blasts from the past, including our man in Houston, back in Banchory for the first time for a few years.
The early birds included the reigning golf champion, Geordie Ziegler, who safely delivered both the shield and the "green" jacket. He ceremonially handed it over to CK:
Of course, CK doesn't "do" golf, so his only chance of ever wearing the green jacket was last night:
Whoops - wrong way round.
The evening wore on and we were eventually joined by latecomers Sharp and McWhinnie, but still no sign of Bob Bennett - other than an e-mail telling us he was at the Derbar, but would be with us soon. We couldn't wait, so we ordered up drams and told the barman to run a tab in the name of Bennett, and celebrated without him:
Bob eventually appeared - mob-handed. Here he is with Jack, Colin and Bennett, Jnr, who now has a full on Texas accent:
Bob, bought yet another round of drams - doubles this time - and Geoff Holmes was in the merry band of revellers at the Derbar and he too then bought another round of doubles, so it turned in to a 5 dram evening - a new record!:
Somehow or other, Brian Fitzpatrick, who was there earlier on, managed to escape all the photos, but, counting him and Geordie, there were 14 of us there last night - another record for a Friday night.
