Eleven of us took part - bacon butties were waiting for us when we arrived and we ate them in this cosy little spot just outside the clubhouse:
Ian Sharp, Stan Thomson (Gerry Mullins' father-in-law and Headbangers' chauffeur), Gary Grant, Ken Black, John McDonald & John McWhinnie) |
Jeb Tyrie (dress code violation!), Jack Simpson, Ken Black, Ian Sharp, Ian McRae, Gerry Mullins, Gary Grant, John McDonald, Ian Stewart, Stan Thomson & John McWhinnie |
We had our usual Nearest the Pins and Longest Drive prizes. We all know that architects think they can draw, but, until now, I never realised some of the accountants in our group had artistic tendencies too:
We had a lovely meal and prize-giving at the Old Post Office in the village afterwards. The individual scores were:
1 | Grant, Gary | 41 |
2 | Mullins, Gerry | 40 |
3 | Stewart, Ian | 38 |
4 | Sharp, Ian | 38 |
5 | Simpson, Jack | 37 |
6 | McRae, Ian | 35 |
7 | McWhinnie, John | 34 |
8 | Black, Ken | 33 |
9 | Thomson, Stan | 31 |
10 | McDonald, John | 30 |
11 | Tyrie, Jeb | 28 |
The team prize was won by the first team of Gary, Ian McR & Jack. The donated prizes were duly distributed, but the winner's shield and the much-coveted "green" jacket had been left behind by last year's winner, as had the Filofax booby. It mattered little for the latter - it's definitely Jeb's for keeps now, after 4 "wins" in a row - but we'll have to arrange for the formal presentation of the former to GAG some time soon. It was Gary's 4th win, levelling with John McDonald, just one win behind me now. Meantime, Gary posed outside the restaurant with his spoils:
Great fun - possibly our best ever outing?
