Well, despite all the gloom and doom predictions brought about by the weather and the spate of cancellations that had taken our number down from 15 to just 8, it turned out to be a terrific afternoon at Kemnay yesterday.
The overnight rain had closed the course in the morning but the rain stopped and the overhead forecast was good for the afternoon, so we met up as planned at the clubhouse for lunch, after which we were first off when the course opened - and it was in amazingly good condition too.
Here's the team at the start:
The 18th hole (which is being replaced) runs right alongside the road and it was a shoe-in that somebody would put a ball there - Jeb was the culprit - here's his yellow ball on the other side of the road:
Undeterred, Jeb was up and over the fence after it:
Back in the clubhouse, we had ale and dinner, then the prize-giving. The three Ians took the first 3 places - I was 3rd with 34 points, Sharpy was 2nd with 36, and winner for the 2nd time was Mr. McRae with a splendid total of 38 points.
John McDonald got the first Nearest the Pin prize and Sharpy the second, with our champion taking the Longest Drive. The team competition was won by Messrs Sharp, McRae, Mullins & Dickinson who had a best two score of 87, beating the first team out by 2 points.
Missing from the prizes was the famous Filofax - location unknown - but the "green" jacket and shield were present and correct and awarded to Ian, with Chris an interested onlooker:
