I've taken the current league positions and calculated who's doing well so far with the forecasts this year. This only covers 12 of the 20 forecasts (the other 8 being cup competitions), but there are a few surprise names at the top and bottom of the table:
No. | Totals | % | |
1 | John McWhinnie | 10 | 83% |
2 | Ian McRae | 9 | 75% |
3= | Ewen Hay | 8 | 67% |
3= | Ian Sharp | 8 | 67% |
5= | Colin Kilgour | 7 | 58% |
5= | Gary Grant | 7 | 58% |
5= | Jeb Tyrie | 7 | 58% |
8= | Andy Robertson | 6 | 50% |
8= | Ian Stewart | 6 | 50% |
8= | Ken Black | 6 | 50% |
8= | Ryan Hay | 6 | 50% |
8= | Steve Paterson | 6 | 50% |
13= | Chris Dickinson | 5 | 42% |
13= | Dave Williamson | 5 | 42% |
13= | Geordie Ziegler | 5 | 42% |
13= | John Moir | 5 | 42% |
17= | Dylan Tyrie | 4 | 33% |
17= | Nigel Meany | 4 | 33% |
19 | Andy Marshall | 3 | 25% |
117 | 49% |
The one team that has caught everyone by surprise is Tranmere, who are currently leading League One. Not one of our group forecast them to win this league.
Dave, Colin and I took the train for an away day to see the erstwhile Division 1 form team play at Falkirk. Unfortunately, Thistle could only manage a fairly sterile scoreless draw - wish we'd gone with Andy M to see them at Firhill last week when they won 7-0!
I'm not updating our Stadia database any more, but The Falkirk Stadium is quite a tidy, new, out of town building. Impressive looking from this angle:
but not so much when you're sitting in the main stand, looking across at empty fields - only 3 sides of the ground are built on:
Incidentally, and somewhat bizarrely, that's Falkirk playing in yellow and Thistle in black.
